My sculptural constructions average in price from $4,500.00 to $8,500.00. Sizes range from smaller wall works approximately 36" x 48" x 7" deep, to large scale wall or free standing pieces. They are made from wood products and wood, painted and constructed with found objects and some with neon. My commissioned works have sold for as much as $10,000.00.
ARTIST STATEMENT
The sculptural constructivist works that identify my artwork finds it’s impetus in architecture. Sculptural forms and structures have always held a fascination for me. I remember my first experience of viewing a butterfly wing through a microscope and seeing the beauty of structure in nature.
The found object has also been a large part of my work over the years. Finding an object made for a specific purpose and then placing it out of context within a work of art changes our recognition of its meaning.
I was influenced by the construction sites that were my play grounds as a child growing up in Post World War II Los Angeles, along with the constant changes of the landscape. This was the beginning of my love/hate relationship with architecture. At the same time I loved the sculptural aspects of the building process, but hated the destruction of farmlands and open space.
People often ask me for the source of my ideas. This always surprises me as an idea is never a singular element. It is the result of working evolution. It is the result of continual growth. It is a process of absorbing everyday patterns and images and translating them into art. In the peace and solitude of the studio, these collected images come together, connecting art with life.
